Embroideries of Kashmir
Sozni:
A highly intricate form of needlepoint embroidery, often used on Pashmina shawls, known for its delicate chain stitch and fine silk thread work.
Kashida:
Kashida is general term for Kashmir embroidery, which includes other stitches as Zalakdo (chain stitch), Vatachik (Buttonhole stitch), Talibar (work of gold). One outstanding feature of the embroidery is the fact that it is made with a single thread giving a flat, formalized appearance to the design.
Zardozi:
Luxurious embroidery using gold and silver threads.
Aari:
A form of embroidery done with a pen-like needle, similar to a crochet hook, often used for its refined thread work.
Crewel:
Embroidered using woolen or art-silk yarn, often with designs drawn on a perforated sheet and traced onto the fabric.
